About sHmoked by Oysters Hawaiʻi
We originally created our sHmoked Ponzu recipe to complement fresh oysters with our catering business Oysters Hawaiʻi, but customers quickly started asking to buy it! They discovered it tastes just as good on fish, poke, grilled meats, vegetables, noodles, rice, dumplings, and salads.
We're a local, family owned business handmaking every bottle. It all started with Oysters Hawaiʻi founded by the late Hopena Pokipala, his wife Allie Chu Pokipala, & her sister Julie Chu. sHmoked carries forward the memory of Hopena, who would always call the sauce "shmoked" and whose influence remains at the heart of the brand. The 'H' in sHmoked is for Hopena.
Bring bold flavor to everyday meals when you use sHmoked Sauces as a dipping sauce, marinade, dressing, or finishing sauce you can't get enough of.
WHAT TO USE IT ON
sHmoked by Oysters Hawaiʻi is a classic Japanese citrus sauce with a uniquely Hawaiʻi twist. Our signature ponzu is carefully smoked with kiawe wood, creating the perfect balance of bright citrus, savory umami, subtle sweetness, and smooth natural smokiness.
It's delicious on:
- Oysters and fresh seafood
- Poke, sashimi, and sushi
- Grilled fish, chicken, steak, and pork
- Dumplings, potstickers, and spring rolls
- Rice, noodles, and stir-fries
- Roasted or grilled vegetables
- Salads and slaws
- Tofu and plant-based dishes
